MCP server · local-first

One call answers what your change breaks across every repo.

Desnarl reads your polyrepo codebase and returns the files a change touches, with the import site for each so you can check the answer. The same checkout gives the same answer. Storage, compute and repository content stay on your own infrastructure.

48 packages · 162 edges · 4 affected

A real, tangled dependency graph from botpress/packages, rendered with a force-directed layout. One package, yargs-extra, and the 4 packages that depend on it are highlighted in orange.

Changing yargs-extra reaches 4 packages. A real dependency tangle from botpress/packages.

Capabilities

Five questions your agent answers in one call.

Each one runs against the repos you point Desnarl at, on your own infrastructure. None of them needs a hosted index of your code.

Cross-repo impact

Name a file or an exported symbol. Desnarl returns the files across the workspace a change to it reaches, and the edge chain it followed to each one.

Consumers

Ask what depends on a package or a module. The answer names the consuming repos and the exact import sites, not just the package name.

Schema references

Ask which repos touch a SQL table or column, in their migrations or in real queries against it. A schema change resolves to the code that reads it.

Version skew

Desnarl resolves declared versions against registry.npmjs.org and names the siblings pinned to a different version of the same package.

CI check

The same query runs as a check on a pull request and reports the cross-repo consumers the branch reaches. Wire it to fail the build, or to report only.

Traversal depth is a parameter, not a ceiling: Desnarl traces as many hops as the caller asks for. The shipped default is 4 hops for impact and consumer queries.

How depth works

Your agent

Works with whichever AI coding agent you use.

Desnarl is a standard stdio MCP server, so it needs nothing beyond an MCP client and a path.

npm install
npm run build

Requires Node.js 24 or later.

Desnarl needs a license key to start, even for non-commercial use. It looks like crg_ followed by 32 lowercase letters or digits. Create an account to get yours. Create an account

How it compares

How this compares to Sourcegraph

Sourcegraph hosts an index of your code and serves queries from it. Desnarl runs entirely on your own infrastructure and answers one question on demand, at the moment your agent asks it.

Pricing

One flat license per workspace.

Not per seat. Non-commercial use is free.

A commercial license is for company or paid-product use; non-commercial use (personal, non-profit) is free under the Desnarl EULA.

This declaration is self-attested at signup — Desnarl does not independently verify or technically enforce it.
